A Private Mail Bag
A Private Mail Bag is a specialized solution for delivering mail to a single location.
Similar to a P.O. Box address, a Private Mail Bag address is assigned a unique number for the user.
The bag usually has a lock to protect its contents. Posta Uganda keeps a copy of the key and also provides a key to a contact person designated by the client.
Unlike a P.O. Box, where the holder must visit the Post Office to collect mail, a Private Mail Bag allows for mail to be delivered directly to the holder.
When mail is sent to a Private Mail Bag client, it is placed inside the bag along with a list of the items. The bag is then locked and dispatched to the recipient with the item list. When it arrives, the contact person at the destination opens the bag and checks the contents against the list.
How to Apply:
- Clients must apply for the service by writing to Posta Uganda.
- The client must already be a customer of Posta Uganda, either as a Prepaid client or Contract Customer.
- The client will need to pay a fee set by Posta Uganda.
- After payment, a numbered bag will be assigned to the client.
Annual Rental Fees:
- The service is billed monthly.
- Fees start at UGX 3,000,000/= and vary based on the client’s location.
