Express Mail Service
EMS is an international postal Express Mail Service for documents and merchandise, provided by postal operators of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Connecting over 180 countries and territories, EMS ensures your mail is delivered quickly and efficiently across the globe.
EMS is a priority service, meaning your items are delivered faster than other postal services. With the largest global network of customer access points through Post Office counters, EMS provides extensive last-mile coverage, reaching every business and individual worldwide.
In Uganda, EMS offers the simplest and most convenient way to send and receive mail both locally and internationally. You can choose between pre-paid or post-paid contracts to send your mail regularly. With the pre-paid option, you deposit a specific amount with Posta, and the cost of each mailing is deducted from your account. A monthly statement is provided. With the post-paid option, Posta Uganda sends you an invoice detailing your transactions at the end of each month.
Posta Uganda offers a regular business collection and delivery service, with free pick-up. EMS guarantees same-day delivery within Kampala and delivery within 48 hours across Uganda. Plus, all EMS items are automatically covered against loss or damage.
Tracking, Tracing & Proof of Delivery.
For international deliveries, EMS provides Track and Trace services, allowing you to monitor your mail’s journey until it reaches the recipient. For domestic deliveries, proof of delivery is also available.
EMS Service Packages.
Contractual Service Package: Designed for bulk mail customers, this package includes a monthly billing agreement, free pick-up service, and special rates.
The ‘M’-Bag Service Package: Ensures secure mail delivery using special locked bags, ideal for contractual customers.
On-Demand Service Package: No agreement is required. Simply visit the nearest EMS office, pay, and send your items.
How to Apply
For Walk-in Customers:
Simply visit the counter, provide the necessary details (sender and receiver information, destination, and weight), pay the postage based on the weight and destination, and your item will be processed for delivery.
For Contract Customers:
Sign an agreement with Posta Uganda to start using EMS. Your items can be picked up by Posta staff or dropped off at a Posta location. Payment can be pre-paid or post-paid, with the items processed and delivered promptly.
Delivery of Items
EMS delivers items directly to the provided address. If there’s an issue with the address, the client will be notified to collect the item from EMS.
Pricing
Domestic:
Postage costs vary based on the weight and destination of the item, with destinations grouped into zones where the same postage applies within each zone.
International:
Similar to domestic pricing, international postage is based on the weight and destination, with countries grouped into zones where the same postage applies within each zone.
